- Looks charmingly cute with a nice, compact form factor - a rarity among smartphones these days - this is a phone that fits in your jeans pocket perfectly
- Comfortable in-hand feel
- Good build quality, with a durable plastic body
Minus
The screen does have pretty thick bezels - although that's to be expected in such a low priced phone
Display
Decent 5-inch HD display with screen resolution of 720p, with fairly good brightness levels
Software
Plus
Runs on Google's Android Go software (a lighter version of Android meant for ultra-low budget smartphones), which means everything is simple and clutter-free
Minus
There are some pre-loaded apps though like Amazon, Mint browser, Mi community, and others - which end up taking precious space on the phone (some can be uninstalled, but some can't)

Performance
Pretty decent day-to-day performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset inside, and some good optimisation on Xiaomi's behalf - if you use it for calls, sending WhatsApp messages, browsing Facebook, scrolling through Twitter, and playing simple games like Subway Surfers and Temple Run 2, it's able to handle things quite smoothly
Camera
- Decent rear and front cameras for the price bracket
- Pictures clicked with the Redmi Go look decent, especially when shot in good light - they have fair amount of details and reasonable colours
Battery
Good battery life with a combination of a 3000mAh battery + small, low-res screen - you will comfortably get a day of use, with moderate to heavy usage
Conclusion
Plus
Overall, the Redmi Go is a good 'first smartphone' purchase and does all the basics quite well, leading to a good user experience
Minus
It will face some stiff competition though from the ultra-budget 'full Android' phones like Asus Zenfone Lite L1, Infinix Smart 2, and Redmi 6A which offer better hardware for a only a slightly higher price
